Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Gilles Villeneuve’s legacy lives on in the racetrack that bears his name and hosts the Grand Prix of Canada. Villeneuve, whose career was shockingly cut short by his death in a wreck during qualifying for the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix, four short years after he claimed his first of six Formula One wins for Ferrari on Montreal’s island circuit in the middle of the St. Lawrence River. This fabulous tribute is a vintage full-size helmet custom-painted to replicate Villeneuve’s helmet from 1978. All details on the helmet are painted with Gilles’ stylized “V” in the red and black color scheme. Sticker on the inside of the helmet has text that reads, "approved by Snell Memorial Foundation 1975, serial No A 881001".
Please take note that the visor does not close entirely.
