Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Captivating keepsake commemorating the Montreal Canadiens 1952-53 Stanley Cup championship – their seventh in franchise history, we have a highly desirable and rarely offered Stanley Cup championship trophy that was presented to Habs captain and enshrined HOF member Emile “Butch” Bouchard. The joyous Montreal Forum celebration at the conclusion of the 1953 finals was immortalized by a photo of Maurice Richard embracing Elmer Lach, who scored the Cup winner in overtime to earn a ride on the shoulders of Butch and the Rocket. At 5 ½” in height and with a circumference of 8 ¾”, the brilliant silver plated copper bowl resembling Lord Stanley's original trophy is engraved "National Hockey League Stanley Cup Winners - Season 1952-53" on one side, and "Club De Hockey Canadien Inc. – Captain Emile "Butch" Bouchard" on the other. "Sheffield Reproduction” (pattern/model) and "S.P. Copper" are stamped beneath the base. Immaculately preserved, sporting just very light wear, the vintage prize comes with its original flower pot grill (removable for display purposes). An LOA signed by Butch Bouchard will accompany, and please take note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve.
