Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Capped by Philadelphia's first Stanley Cup, the 1973-74 season was a memorable one for veteran Flyers defenceman Ed Van Impe. Renowned for his punishing body checks, Van Impe was presented with this plaque commemorating his 500th NHL Game a month into the season in Oakland. A vintage Oakland Seals official NHL game puck, the correct one used by the Golden Seals in 1973-74, is displayed on the 12" x 15" wood plaque which features a metallic portrait of Van Impe in his #2 Flyers uniform on the left and a plaque with the puck and the date, location and final score of the game. Comes with Ed Van Impe's signed LOA. Metal plaque reads: “500th NHL Game, Congratulations, Ed Van Impe, Nov. 16, 1973 at Oakland, Calif., Flyers 2, Seals 1”. The very bottom part of the gold-coloured leaf to the left of the puck is missing.
