Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Formed in the mid-1960s as the Canadian Major Junior Hockey League and later renamed the Western Hockey League, 22 teams currently compete, with the Ed Chynoweth Cup presented to each season’s playoffs winner. We have a trio of WHL jerseys offered, with a Spokane Chiefs example worn by Sean Gillam in the early-to-mid-1990s, a Chilliwack Bruins jersey worn by Lucas Gore circa 2010-11 and a Vancouver Giants "Don Cherry" sweater worn by Aidan Barfoot in 2017-18. First, the Chiefs jersey has a Maska label and size “52” fly tag along with handwritten “7” over the collar, with a blue and red chain-stitched team crest. “24” appears over the sleeves and verso in tackle twill, with heavy use including a number of dark marks throughout, along with a few burns and small holes. There is also glue residue over the left breast from a formerly attached captain’s “C”. Next, the Bruins jersey has a CHL label and “Goalie Style” tagging with a “58” size tag along the collar, as well as CHL and WHL crests. Featuring a tackle twill team crest and numbers, the sweater has a number of puck marks over the front, along with heavy pilling within the collar. There is also a team repair along the top edge of the team crest. Lastly, the Giants "Don Cherry" jersey is designed to appear like one of the commentators suit jackets, with a CHL label and size “56” size tag along the collar. With all graphics sublimated except the affixed nameplate, the jersey shows light wear, with a board burn over the upper right sleeve, along with some sweat staining around the collar.
