Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Led by Gordie Howe’s 73 points and Terry Sawchuk’s 25 wins, the Detroit Red Wings would advance to the Stanley Cup final in 1964, taking the consecutive Cup-winning Toronto Maple Leafs to seven games. We have a stick team-signed by the 1963-64 Motor City squad. A souvenir “Red Wing” model sold by team supplier Olympic Sporting Goods and featuring a dual-striping accent in Detroit red, the full-size stick has been signed by 18 all on one side of the shaft, including deceased Hall members Howe, Sawchuk, Pronovost and Gadsby, along with fellow enshrined members Ullman and Delvecchio. The Northland-manufactured stick exhibits light wear, with the autographs displaying especially well, with just light bleeding into the material of the Sawchuk example at the end of his signature.
The additional signers include 1972 Summit Series hero Paul Henderson, along with MacGregor, Barkley, Smith, Jeffrey, Martin, Joyal, Spencer, Miszuk, Pronovost and two others.
