Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2020
Held annually at the end of each season, the Boston Bruins recognize their very best with an awards night, with the most impressive honour going to the Bruins’ player who "exhibits exceptional hustle and determination". Named for the legendary hard-as-nails Bruins defenceman, the Eddie Shore Trophy was first presented in 1937, with the offered example originally awarded to superstar Derek Sanderson at the conclusion of the Bruins Stanley Cup championship season of 1972. At 15” in height and featuring a pedestal trophy cup with player mounted over a finished wooden base, “Eddie Shore Trophy” is engraved over the bowl, with mounted bruins on either side. A metal plaque has been affixed to the base with “Presented by the Gallery Gods to the Outstanding Bruins Player 1971-72 Derek Sanderson”. A signed LOA from the superstar will accompany.
Heavy surface wear is visible over the mounted bruins and pedestal base, with additional wear to the bowl and base including a few scratches and blemishes to the affixed plaque and over the reverse. The mounted player’s stick is also bent, and he is able to swivel over the bowl.
