Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Ranked number 1 on The Hockey News' list of the 100 Greatest Goaltenders in 2010, legendary netminder Terry Sawchuk was once quoted as stating, “The day they put me in net I had a good game. I've stayed there ever since.” While Terry may be gone, his legacy lives on, with the Winnipeg native and one-time shutout king still the measure of all great goaltenders. This government postcard has been signed by the iconic legend during his rookie era and it is encapsulated as "Authentic Auto" by PSA/DNA. At 3 1/2" x 5 1/2", Sawchuk has placed a gorgeous blue ballpoint on the blank reverse along with "Best Wishes". The front is addressed to Sawchuk and the Detroit Red Wings Hockey Club by an unknown hand in green ink, with a 1951 postmark stamped. Regarding condition, there is just a small area of tape residue to both the front and reverse of the postcard. Sawchuk passed away in 1970 at the age of just 40.
