Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
The all-time wins and shutout leader at the time of his death, and widely considered the greatest goaltender in NHL history, Terrance Gordon Sawchuk was an eleven-time All-Star, earning seven consecutive nominations. The Winnipeg native also earned “Rookie of the Year” honours in the USHL, AHL and NHL, with four Stanley Cup championships won throughout his legendary career. Passing at the age of 40 in 1970, signatures from Sawchuk remain as one of the most desirable of all Hall of Famers to acquire. We offer a stunning example, with a vintage photo signed by the iconic netminder. At 8" x 10" and featuring a portrait image of a youthful smiling Uke in his wool Red Wings sweater, Terry has signed over the left side in what appears to be fiber-tip marker, with an inscription that reads "To Gary Best of Luck". There are a few small areas where the marker didn't leave ink, but these are especially small, and can be forgiven when considering the rarity, size and overall quality of the signature. The photo shows minor handling wear, with "Terry Sawchuk" handwritten on the reverse in ballpoint. This definitely ranks among some of the best Sawchuk signed items we have ever handled. LOAs will accompany from both PSA/DNA and Beckett.
