Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/2/2022
A referee in the NHA and a representative at the founding of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association in 1914, Leo Dandurand is best remembered as an owner of the Montreal Canadiens along with Joseph Cattarinich and Hilarion Louis Létourneau, and at times served as coach and general manager with the club. This original studio portrait has been signed by the Montreal Alouettes founder. Produced by the Lumiere Studio in Salt Lake City, the approx 7” x 9” image of a dapper Dandurand has been affixed to a 12” x 15 ½” mount, with this attached to a presentation folder with the photographer stamped to the front. Dandurand has signed in dark ink adding “Sincerely” in French along with the date of “24/9/28”. The signature is flawless and remains completely bold, with just some silvering to the image. There is also minor wear to the mount and folder including a tear to the cover of the folder. Dandurand was enshrined in the HOF as a builder in 1963, and passed the following year, at age 74.
