Originally drafted 109th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in 1989, Bowling Green University product, Dan Bylsma would never suit up for the club, instead signing in Hollywood as a member of the Los Angeles Kings in the summer of 1994. A veteran of 429 National Hockey League games over the course of nine (9) seasons in the league and a Stanley Cup champion as Head Coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009, offered here is this Kings jersey worn by Bylsma during the 1996-97 season. Made by Starter, brand, "Center Ice" and size "54-R" labeling are all affixed to the inner collar white the logos of both Starter and the NHL are embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a Kings team crest that has had "Los Angeles Kings" and other details embroidered into it, the purple and yellow "JKC" memorial patch worn by the club following the team's original owner's passing in April of 1997 is affixed over the right shoulder. Styled over sleeves and verso with Bylsma's number "42" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, "Bylsma" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters that have been sewn directly to the upper back. Exhibiting excellent game-wear, including stick marks over the lower front, reverse and both sleeves, both sleeves also display a bevy of board paint transfers, board burns and team repairs as well as a few small unrepaired holes as well. Sporting a Kings team tag sewn inside the reverse hem that denotes the piece as a "1996-97 Set 1" offering", the interior also features the original fight strap, which shows evidence of multiple washings, as well as good pilling throughout that is heaviest in the sleeves. Additionally, Bylsma has signed the reverse number "4" with a black marker ink signature that displays well despite some fading from age being present.
