Featuring the countless escapades of beloved comic book character Tintin and his loyal dog Snowy, this lot is ideal for the avid reader, with a collection of hardcover books totaling 25 and highlighted by a set of 12 "L'Oeuvre Integrale D'Herge" volumes. Produced during the mid-1980s and featuring reprinted vintage Tintin comics, each 9” x 11 ½” L'Oeuvre Integrale D'Herge book is numbered, with an embossed colour cover (book #12 contains four small books). The additional books include 7 vintage from the early-1960s that feature bound comic volumes, along with 6 misc that include titles Tintin et la Quebec, Nous Tintin, Le Monde D’Herge (two volumes, one from 1973, one from 1990), Le Musee Imaginaire de Tintin, and Tintin et le Monde D’Herge. The 12-book set is in flawless condition, with light wear to the exteriors of the early-1960s volumes.
One of the most popular European comics of the 20th century and first appearing in Le Petit Vingtième (The Little Twentieth) in 1929, a youth supplement to the Belgian newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle, The Adventures of Tintin has been published in more than 70 languages with sales of more than 200 million copies, and has been adapted for radio, television, theatre and film. Following the exploits of youthful Belgian reporter and adventurer Tintin and his trusty canine companion Snowy, well-structured plots encompassing numerous themes enthralled readers, with both satire and cultural commentary exploited by creator Herge (Georges Remi). This collection of Tintin items includes a number of desirable keepsakes and collectibles, all of which feature the French language.
