Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Despite being short-lived, the Baltimore Stallions CFL franchise was quite successful during their existence, with a Division Championship and Grey Cup won during their 2 seasons in the league. We have a trio of Stallion items for your collecting consideration, with a number “31” helmet, a jersey worn by Chris Johnson in 1995 and uniform pants from 1994 that were most likely recycled for the 1995 season. The helmet was manufactured by Riddell, with intact padding/harness and chin strap, with Stallions decals on both sides along with “31” over the reverse. Nice use is exhibited, with marks, scratches and abrasions present. No one is listed as wearing #31 in 1994, although some players have no numbers listed, with Maurice Gravely wearing the #31 in ’95. The jersey has Starter labeling over the collar and lower front, with a size “48” fly tag and “95” year swatch. Styled with Stallions logos rubberized over the sleeves, “5” in matching material graces the front, reverse and shoulders. With evidence of a former nameplate, we should note that Chris Johnson played 4 games for Baltimore in 1995 wearing #5, with Mike Alexander also wearing the number for 3 games. Lastly, the pants have a size “44” label from Ripon, with a “94” year swatch affixed beneath. Featuring sewn-on Stallions patches over each side along with an intact belt and tie-string, “24” has been handwritten within the interior, crossed-out with “66” written nearby. Heavy use is exhibited with team repairs and pilling, with a large tear over the right knee.
