Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
One of the Edmonton Oilers greatest assets along the blueline throughout the 1980s, Charlie Huddy is a veteran of over 1000 NHL contests, and can claim five Stanley Cup championships – a feat achieved by few. We have an especially desirable Oilers jersey that was worn by the stalwart defender during the 1990 Stanley Cup finals, where Edmonton defeated the Boston Bruins in five to claim their fifth championship in franchise history. A Maska Air-Knit label with handwritten “52” sizing is affixed to the collar, with embroidered CCM and NHL crests over the reverse bottom hem. Styled with the famous oil drop team crest with stretched letters fully administered in layered tackle twill, “22” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with the important 1990 Stanley Cup patch over the right breast. An LOA from the Edmonton Oilers will accompany this treasure, along with a COR from MeiGray.
Regarding condition, dark marks litter the lower front along with a bit of spot staining, with board burns over each custom-shortened sleeve, with each sporting a resulting small hole/slit. There is also some blue paint transfer over the left sleeve, as well as four material-backed team repairs on or near the left elbow. We should also note heavy pilling over each cuff, with a small repair visible on the lower right seam. A copy of Huddy’s 1990-91 Score hockey card is included, and it appears to show the small black mark on the lower left sleeve and the adjacent blueish mark, but lacking high resolution, the image is not definitive enough to call a photo-match.
