Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
The ill-fated Bill Barilko and five deceased HOFers, Turk Broda, Ted Kennedy, Max Bentley, Harry Watson and coach Happy Day, are among the 18 members of the 1949-50 Toronto Maple Leafs who have autographed the team-signed sheet featured in this magnificent framed display. The blank signed sheet with 18 black fountain pen ink autographs has two horizontal fold creases and displays to roughly 8” x 4 1/2" as presented in the upper middle of the frame between a picture of the exterior of Maple Leaf Gardens and a felt Maple Leafs crest, and above a color team picture of a Maple Leafs team posed with the Stanley Cup that displays to 11” x 17”. Comes with a JSA LOA.
Other members of the 1949-50 Maple Leafs who have autographed the team-signed sheet include leading scorer Sid Smith, Howie Meeker, Joe Klukay, Cal Gardner, Ray Timgren, Bill Ezinicki, Vic Lynn, Gus Mortson, Bill Juzda, Jim Thomson, John McCormack and Garth Boesch. “1958” is written in red in an unknown hand and underlined twice on the upper right side of the team-signed sheet.
Plaque at the bottom of the frame reads, “Toronto Maple Leafs, 1949-50 Stanley Cup Champions”, though Toronto won the Cup three straight seasons from 1946-47 to 1948-49, and again for the fourth time in five seasons in 1950-51. This item is relisted from our Winter 2018 auction as Rob Sanderson from ON (Canada) failed to honor his bid.
