Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
An absolutely wonderful cache of important and seldom seen Summit Series items, we have a great collection of mementos from the paramount 1972 series, all originating from the personal collection of Toronto Maple Leafs/Team Canada trainer Tommy Naylor. Included, we have an especially rare mini-pennant, with these examples presented to players before the games in Moscow. This is followed by Naylor's Air Canada sales brochure, his signed USSR Customs declaration form, his tour package exchange voucher, Air Canada flight ticket from Frankfurt, Hotel receipt from Prague, two baggage tickets from the Grand Hotel in Stockholm where they played against Sweden in an exhibition match, series results booklet, a pair of pocket calendars from Russia, paper items from the hotel in Moscow and three tickets to Russian venues.
The rarely-seen 4” x 6 ½” pennant exhibits a few creases along with wear to the right border. The remaining documents all show expected wear commensurate with their former use, with just very light wear to the surviving high-grade TD Bank results booklet. The Russian schedules for the series both show moderate wear, with the larger example exhibiting edge wear and toning. The final three tickets mentioned are for venues such as the Moscow Opera, the Kremlin and the famous Bolshoi Theater.
