Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
From the season preceding his third Stanley Cup championship, one that witnessed 52 points scored in just 52 games, we offer a Detroit Red Wings captain’s jersey worn by legendary superstar Steve Yzerman, in 2000-01. A small label and size “50” fly tag are affixed to the collar along with the original price tag from the Red Wings pro shop ($6,000.00), with additional embroidered NHL and KOHO patches over the reverse hem and back neckline respectively. Featuring a gorgeous winged-wheel team crest, “19” appears over the sleeves and verso in single white twill, with “Yzerman” arching across the upper reverse. A number of dark marks cover the lower front including a few stick marks, with additional marks over each sleeve. There are also numerous team repairs, with examples over the front (4), reverse (1), shoulders (2) and right sleeve (5). Hailing from the collection of Michael Wexler, the team patch resides over the inside hem denoting the garment as a “2nd Set” example, with a COA from the Red Wings to accompany.
