Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
The singing of O’Canada from coast to coast occurred directly after the conclusion of the Summit Series in 1972, with an entire nation completely enthralled by the victorious battle for hockey supremacy. Hailing from the collection of tournament hero Paul Henderson, we have his personal copy of the Daniel Parry lithograph entitled, “O’Canada”. At approx 24” x 25” (exposed), Team Canada is wonderfully depicted lining up during the anthem proceeding Game 8, with each signing below in pencil including Henderson, along with the Esposito and Mahovlich brothers, and HOFers Dryden, Park, Savard, Lapointe, Cournoyer, Clarke, Ratelle, Gilbert, Perreault, Mikita and Dionne. Numbered “19/40 P.E.” (player’s edition), the litho has been double-matted and framed to full dimensions of roughly 35 ½” x 36”. A signed LOA from Paul Henderson will accompany.
Other signers include coach Sinden, deceased team members Bergman, Parise, Goldsworthy, Martin and assistant coach Ferguson, and Johnston, Stapleton, Ellis, Hull, Hadfield, Cashman, Seiling, White, Redmond, Awrey, Tallon, Guevremont and Glennie.
