Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

As an important assistant to Alan Eagleson, Marvin Goldblatt contributed admirably in getting the inaugural Canada Cup tournament off the ground in 1976. Interest in international hockey was growing following the Canada-Russia series in both 1972 and 1974, and the gathering of the world's top 6 hockey countries made for a memorable competition. Led by veterans Bobby Hull and Bobby Orr who turned in incredible performances, Team Canada claimed top tournament honors. Like the players, team executive Goldblatt received a championship trophy in the form of a silver half maple leaf. A metal plate at the base of the 11 ¾” high trophy is engraved "Marvin Goldblatt – Coupe Canada Cup". The trophy exhibits light handling wear throughout, with additional wear along the edges of the green felt underside.
