Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
A two-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner as the league's most valuable player, Mark Messier was also a part of six Stanley Cup championships, with the Edmonton native named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2017. We have a signed stick used by Messier in the late-1980s. A Sher-Wood 9030 Feather-Glas model, “Messier” and “11” appear stamped-on, with the original black tape over the handle and blade intact. Light but definite use is exhibited on the desirable lumber, with wear to the blade along with a few marks and paint transfer to the lower shaft. There is also some minor dirt staining over the tape at the tip of the blade to note. The Moose has signed the front side of the lower shaft in blue marker adding “To Andrew”, along with what appears to be “88”.
Addendum; according to our consignor this Messier game-used stick was received during the 1988 Stanley Cup playoffs but he has no recollection at which game it was received at.
