Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
This magnificent Marilyn Monroe framed display features a 1953 check handwritten and signed by the Hollywood icon and legendary sex symbol. Marilyn’s bold blue ink fountain pen signature sits at the bottom of the Bank of America check drawn on her account at the “Laurel-Sunset Branch” in Hollywood, which she has dated “Feb. 7, (19)53.” Also in Marilyn’s handwriting are the amounts “($)50.00” and “fifty (dollars)” and pay to the order of “Harriet Beal.” What an amazing time in Marilyn’s life, with “Niagara” released the previous month and both “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” and “How to Marry a Millionaire” to follow later in 1953. The substantial 25 1/2" x 25 1/2" frame also features two Marilyn photos, a Marilyn pin at the top and a bio at the bottom plaque at the bottom. Comes with a JSA LOA and an additional LOA.
The second LOA states that the photo on the left of the framed display is a 1953 photo of Marilyn by Andre de Dienes with a “Photo Andre de Dienes” stamp on the reverse.
