Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Originally sold through the Hockey Diversified NHL Goal Puck Program that offered game-used examples from 1972-73 and 1973-74, a label was affixed to each listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. This particular puck was used by Jerry Korab to score the Buffalo Sabres 140th goal of the 1973-74 season vs the New York Rangers, at Buffalo Memorial Auditorium, on Jan 10 1974. The Thursday evening game witnessed an especially impressive showing by the Sabres, defeating the boys from Broadway at home, 7-2. His first season in New York state after coming over from the Canucks, Korab would spend seven years with Buffalo before moving on to Los Angeles.
The Sabres rubberized logo is quite dark, with a number of blemishes and dark marks to the Goal Puck Program label. There are also a few edge chips, with the puck itself exhibiting wear and dirt.
