Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019

Currently a special assignment scout for the Pittsburgh Penguins, netminder Gilles Meloche suited up for five different NHL teams during his career, including the defunct clubs of the California Golden Seals and the Cleveland Barons. We have a pair of signed sticks used by the Montreal native, including an example that saw action with either Minnesota or Pittsburgh circa 1984-87, along with a stick he used with the Pens in 1987-88. The circa 1984-87 stick is a Sher-Wood PMPG model with “Meloche G” and “27” stamped-on, with “27” also handwritten, with the original white tape over the blade, handle and knob. A piece of foam has also been attached just over the top of the paddle, possibly done while Gilles was nursing an injury. Nice use is exhibited, with heavy wear including numerous puck marks to the blade and paddle. Meloche has signed over the upper paddle in black marker, and the signature is flawless. The 1987-88 stick is a KOHO Pro model with “Meloche” stamped-on, with the original white tape over the blade, paddle, handle and knob. A ton of puck marks are visible over both the front and reverse of the blade, with some ripped tape strands. Gilles has added a gorgeous black marker signature over the lower paddle, with no issues.
