Currently second all-time in games and minutes played guarding the net of the Minnesota/Dallas franchise, Cesare Maniago spent additional NHL time with Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and the New York Rangers. We have a stick used by the Trail native during his time with Minnesota during the early-1970s, along with a trapper that saw action in the late-1960s. The stick is a Christian Custom Pro model with “Maniago” stamped-on, with “30” handwritten over the upper shaft. Team-coloured striping accents have also been utilized, placed over the handle and paddle. The glove is a high-quality Kenesky model in solid black - this style employed by Cesare during his time with the Rangers – with “Maniago” handwritten in black marker within the interior.
The stick has the original black tape over the blade and white over the knob, with white tape later added over the black on the blade to help rectify a break, with the blade separated along the heel section. The aforementioned white/green/yellow striping accents remain intact with some minor fading, with just a bit of loss to the example over the handle. Dark marks are also visible over the paddle and shaft, evidence of moderate game-use. The glove feature’s intact pocket lacing, with some minor separation along the thumb seam, with heavy rubbing and wear to the leather - especially over the reverse. The lining also shows heavy wear, with a few grommets now missing.
