The oldest American NHL team and one of the greatest and most historic venues, the Boston Bruins iced their first club in 1924-25, and began play in the vaunted Boston Garden in 1928. This lot contains a great vintage Boston Garden/Boston Bruins program collection of 19, beginning in 1928-29 and concluding with the 1952-53 season. Ranging from approx 7” x 10” to 8 ½” x 11 ½”, the earlier examples include 1929-30 vs Maroons (detached line-up, spine tears and rusting to the staples), 1930-31 vs Philadelphia Quakers (detached line-up, spine tears and rusting to the staples), 1930-31 vs Detroit (detached line-up, rusting to the staples, general wear), 1931-32 vs Chicago (detached and separated line-up in poor condition, heavy spotting to the cover), 1936-37 vs Leafs (detached and toned line-up, material loss along the top cover) and 1937-38 vs Detroit (detached, separated and heavily-toned line-up). We should also note that the earliest program from 1928-29 is for a boxing match, with a trio of programs in the collection for minor-league games.
The remaining programs include a pair from 1943-44, one from 1944-45, one from 1945-46, one from 1948-49 (detached line-up), one from 1951-52, and a pair from 1952-53 with one signed on the cover by HOF member Milt Schmidt. Condition ranges in the collection, with the earlier examples showing moderate to heavier wear with toned pages, spine splits, cover tears and paper loss, with the later programs in very good condition, with the majority having minor spine and cover issues.
