Sure to arouse serious hobbyists and pique the curiosity of most collectors perusing our auction is this special specimen; a 1966-67 Topps Bobby Orr rookie card deemed worthy of being assigned a lofty mark of NM-MT 8 by PSA. Yes, the centering led to an (OC) qualifier but the beholder is quick to overlook the centering while admiring the image of the Parry Sound, Ontario teenager and then the gorgeous woodgrain borders, the smooth edges and the sharp corners. And then it's back to Bobby and then the borders and then the edges and then the corners and over and over - this treasure is amazingly captivating! Is it a white spec? Maybe the tiniest of white specs can be detected at the upper right corner upon close examination. Meanwhile, examining the PSA Population Report reveals the following: Just one Orr RC has ever earned MINT 9 status, with another at NM-MT+ 8.5 and 46 slabbed NM-MT 8, the latter joined by this card and two others with qualifiers. Seven NM+ 7.5s and 111 at NM 7 are also notable (as of early May, 2020). Light scratches to the front of the older PSA holder are to be aware of. We could of course go on and on about Bobby's incredible exploits, many of them without parallel in the history of the NHL, but will refrain from the obvious and point out the importance this example offers: the high bidder will be acquiring a high grade, coveted rookie card of the greatest defenceman of all-time and arguably the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates. Enough said. Good luck with this stirring and sensational collectible.
