Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Hailing from the predominantly French city of Woonsocket Rhode Island, Brian Boucher logged ice time in the WHL and AHL before embarking on a 35-game season with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1999-00. Boucher also holds the NHL's modern record for the longest shutout streak, playing in over 332 minutes for Phoenix without a goal scored. This mask was worn by Boucher while with Carolina in 2011-12, and it’s been photo-matched. Painted by Franny Drummond of Drummond Custom Airbrush, the Bauer mask features Carolina logos on each side, along with the alternate logo along the top. The interior padding and strapping is intact, including the cloth forehead accessory. The back headpiece has “Boosh” along the bottom, with “33” on the left side and the name’s of Boucher’s children on the right.
The mask has been photo-matched to the small mark near the hole on the right side cheek, to the small chip on the lower left back corner, and to the small chip on the forehead section. The chin exhibits a crack, along with some crazing to the design. Crazing is also present along each side where the cage was affixed, with a few light blemishes on the forehead section. Also worthy to note, there is some slight discolouration/yellowing to the back headpiece.
