Representing Canada twice at both the Canada Cup and World Championships, Bob Gainey spent his entire 16-season career with the Montreal Canadiens, winning 5 Stanley Cups along with the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1979 as the top performer in the playoffs. From the 1976 Canada Cup and his personal collection, we have the Team Canada jersey Gainey wore, with Team Canada taking home the inaugural tournament victory. A somewhat faded AK label is affixed to the collar with “1976 Can Cup” handwritten, with the important sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 46. Styled with the iconic half maple leaf team crest with “Canada” across the chest in heat-pressed white vinyl, all additional identifiers are in matching material, including “34” over the sleeves and verso, and "Gainey" over the upper reverse. A signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany this desirable international jersey.
There is a bit of surface wear to the team crest including some bleeding of the red material onto the bottom portions of the crest, with light wear overall to the jersey including a few minor board burns over each sleeve. There are also a few dark marks over the lower reverse.
