The 1999 Pacific Coast League champion Vancouver Canadians and pitcher Bill King went out in style, winning the Triple-A World Series championship. King received this 10-karat gold championship ring, which weighs approximately 33 grams, in his final season of minor league ball as the Canadians wound up their IL tenure in Vancouver with a 3-2 series win against the Charlotte Knights of the International League in the best-of-five series at Cashman Field in Las Vegas. “C’s” gold logo sits atop a red stone on the tableau, surrounded by “World Series 1999 AAA Champions” in raised gold. “King” is above the Canadians and Oakland A’s logos on the left shank in raised gold; “Pacific Coast League Champions 93-63” is on the right shank. “Jostens 10K” is stamped inside the size 9 1/2 band.
Very cool memento of a short-lived minor league championship series and a final championship season for Triple-A baseball in Vancouver exhibits surface scratches, most apparent on the back of the band, from proud wear. The 1999 Canadians were in their first year as the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s, who moved the team to Sacramento, where it was renamed the River Cats for the 2000 IL season.
