Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Producing arguably the greatest two seasons of any netminder in NHL history, Bernie Parent would secure back-to-back Vezina and Conn Smythe trophies in both 1974 and 1975, with his Philadelphia Flyers literally unstoppable as repeating Stanley Cup champions. One of the most desirable trophies and highly coveted by collectors with examples coming to auction especially sparse, we have the original Conn Smythe trophy presented to Stanley Cup champion Bernie Parent, in 1974-75.
Named in honour of the longtime Toronto Maple Leafs owner, exquisitely detailed and majestic in appearance, the 13” trophy features a metal replica of MLG mounted to a three tier finished wooden base, with large imposing maple leaf overshadowing. A plaque on the base’s top tier details the trophy’s particulars including “Conn Smythe Trophy”, with a second small plaque added beneath with “Bernard Parent – Winner – 1974-75” engraved.
Displaying beautifully and ready for the most prominent spot in your trophy room, there is some oxidation to the metal components throughout, with a bit of age spotting to the name plaque and over areas of the MLG replica. There is also some minor surface wear over the mounted maple leaf. An “Auction Certificate” will accompany, and please take note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve.
