Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Leading the NHL in points in six seasons throughout his HOF career, Mario Lemieux made his presence instantly known as a rookie, scoring 100 points in 73 games in 1984-85. A two-time Stanley Cup champion as a player who faced adversity like no other during his storied NHL career and the only player able to be compared to the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Lemieux would represent Canada on numerous occasions and be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997. Offered here, we present this "Ultimate Memorabilia" card of Lemieux that was released as part of Leaf's 2015 Ultimate Memorabilia release. Featuring an action image of Lemieux in the later days of his career over the left side of the card which is accented around it with silver foil accents, a swatch of black coloured mesh cut from a jersey worn by Lemieux has been embedded into the front of the card with "Mario Lemieux" found above. Serial numbered as being an esteemed "1/1" example in silver foil at the right side of the card beside the piece of game-worn memorabilia, the displays in its original raw ungraded form and is seen as being in excellent condition with it appearing to have just a bit of light wear affecting the bottom right corner on the front.
