Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Reminiscent of the caps with player’s images distributed by Coca-Cola during the 1960s, this promotion from Pepsi in 1980-81 differed slightly by having the pictures on the interior of the caps. This complete 140-cap ensemble features the seven Canadian NHL teams of the era, with the Canadiens to include veteran stars such as Gainey, Lapointe, Robinson, Savard, and Shutt, while early in their careers are Oiler superstars Messier, Coffey, Kurri, and Anderson. Other notables include the Stastnys, Salming and Nilsson. At approx 26” in diameter, the plastic display houses all 140 caps with 20-per team, with French-language utilized on the display. The majority of the caps are in stunning high grade, with just very light wear to the display as opposed to the cracks and discolouration that usually plague the frail plastic displays. The original shipping box is included, with “Pepsi Hockey Plaque” printed on one side and just light overall wear.
