Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Perhaps the most well-known team in Canadian Hockey history, everyone that was around for it knows where they were when Paul Henderson put the puck past Tretiak with 34 seconds left in game 8 to seal the Summit Series for Canada. Still regarded as the greatest hockey series in the history of the game, offered here is this collection of three 1972 Canada-Russia Series Team Canada (2) and Team Russia (1) posters. With each measuring 24” x 36”, the trio of posters display the headshots of the members of their respective teams, the top displays either “Hockey Canada 1972” or “USSR National Team 1972” with the USSR poster showing the Soviet flag underneath while the Canadian team poster shows a maple leaf above flanked by each country’s flag. One of the Team Canada posters is in a lesser condition with tears around the edges, pin holes, toning, creasing and sun fading present. The other two posters, one of each team, remain in excellent condition with only light wear and some light toning to the edges of the USSR poster. Both displaying bright colours, “USSR National Team” is handwritten on the back edge of the Soviet poster.
