Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
As many youth can attest, nothing goes down better after a game of hockey than an ice cold soda. We have a wonderful group of premiums/giveaways from pop giants Pepsi along with Canada Dry, including a desirable complete set (140) of 1980-81 Pepsi hockey caps with the original attractive display. We also have a rarely-seen Canada Dry cardboard bottle-case with intact “Hockey Tips” record, along with 2 complete sets (4 to a set) of records, as well as Bobby Orr and Yvan Cournoyer “Hockey As I See It” booklets, a complete set of early-1980s Pepsi "Hockey Skills" posters, an original newsprint ad featuring the posters and a pair of caps from a Pepsi hockey promotion/game.
The 1980-81 Pepsi hockey cap collection is complete at 140, with the display featuring all 7 contemporary Canadian NHL teams, with 20 caps per team. At roughly 26 ½” in diameter, the bottler cap display exhibits minor wear, with a section slightly detached from the original cardboard backing, along with a few minor cracks to the plastic as well as slight toning/discolouration. The intact Canada Dry case exhibits just light wear and displays well with vibrant colours, with the intact record appearing in good condition, with expected wear from prior use for the 2 complete sets of 4 records (8 total) that feature Cheevers, Ellis, Park and Ralph Backstrom. The Pepsi “Hockey Skills” posters all exhibit just light wear across the original fold lines, with the Orr ““Hockey As I See It” book in rough shape, with heavy wear and creasing. The Cournoyer booklet is the French variety, and it shows just a few minor marks along the spine and reverse.
