Superstar QB Joe Namath backed up his boast that the upstart New York Jets would become the first AFL team to beat an NFL team in the Super Bowl. Namath was named MVP of Super Bowl III after leading the Jets to a 16-7 win over the Baltimore Colts at the Orange Bowl in Miami on January 12, 1969. Broadway Joe and fellow HOFer Don Maynard are among the 25 bold black marker autographs on this limited-edition 1969 Jets team-signed throwback Riddell helmet. Namath placed a nice big signature above the Jets logo on the right side of the helmet, which has a Steiner hologram sticker on the back to the right of the “13/69” limited-edition notation between the green stripes. Comes with a Steiner COA.
Wonderfully bold autographs throughout. Joe Namath (HOF 1985), Bill Mathis, Don Maynard (HOF 1987), Bake Turner, Emerson Boozer, Curley Johnson, Randy Beverly, Jim Hudson, Bill Baird, Al Atkinson, Dave Herman, Matt Snell and Ralph Baker have signed the right side of the helmet. The left side is signed by Jim Turner, John Schmidt, Bob Talamini, Larry Grantham, Carl McAdams, John Elliott, Paul Rochester, Pete Lammons, Randy Rasmussen, Cornell Gordon, Winston Hill and Gerry Philbin.
