Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
The year was 1969 and Montreal finally had a big-league ball club to call their own, the beloved Expos, a team that would provide plenty of thrills and great players over the years, and ultimately great sadness as the team would play their final game in October of 2004 before moving to Washington. But memories remain, and to help in the cause, we have two ticket stubs (bleachers and box seat) from their very first home game (at intimate Jarry Park) on April 14, 1969 vs, the Cards (Expos won 8-7), along with a program from that opener, plus an original 1969 Expos pamphlet and 1969 Expos official yearbook. The perfect mementos from a glorious time in Montreal sporting history.
Condition-wise for the two ticket stubs shows nice edges and corners on both, with no marks or tears, and with one crease running across a corner of the yellow bleacher example. The opening day program, measuring approximately
6 ¾” x 10”, is a fully intact 62-pager, unmarked except for a small notation on page 3. The program is in overall very nice condition with a few faint creases and some handling evidence. The pamphlet, measuring 4” x 9” and 9” x 20” fully opened, has been preserved in excellent condition with no issues, as is the 8 ½” x 11” yearbook (72 pages).
