Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018

Featuring some funky colors and popular with collectors is Topps' 1967-68 set, bolstered by three early Bobby Orr cards. Bobby's 2nd-year card here (#92), features nice centering but also a sometimes-seen vertical manufacturer's wrinkle, in this case a one-inch affair descending from his ear, to go along with a small light crease and sending things to VG. The Calder Trophy card is best at EX-MT, with the All-Star lightly creased and VG+. Important rookie cards include Sanderson (VG-EX), Lemaire (VG) and Vachon (EX), while star cards are led by 32-Esposito (EX (OC)), 43-Howe (VG with rubber band-caused warping) and 113-Hull (VG+). Two dozen other star cards were pulled from their binder pages, revealing very few creases and some lightly dinged corners, equaling a mix of mostly VG-EX and VG-EX+, along with EX examples. The winning bidder should expect to discover similar cards among the rest, with VG and VG+, as well as a few EX-or-better cards also present. Present but marked are the two checklists, with wax/gum stains spotted intermittently.
