Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
An all-time favourite with collectors due to the attractive “TV screen” wood-grained border design along with the fact that it housed the rookie card of none other than Bobby Orr, the 1966-67 Topps hockey release was complete at 132 cards, making it the largest Topps hockey set to date. Two wrapper variations were utilized in the set, this for the third consecutive year, with one example featuring a ’67 notation within the upper right corner, while the other version remained blank. We have a pair of wrappers from the landmark set, with both the plain and ‘67 notated examples present, along with card #61 Doug Mohns encapsulated and graded EX-MT + 6.5 by PSA.
Each wrapper features bright colours with nice centered images. The usual and expected fold lines are present, with a 1 inch tear along a top fold line on the plain wrapper variation. The ’67 notated example also contains a small “pinhole” tear along the bottom center, while the graded Mohn card exhibits some minor surface wear to the PSA holder.
