Originally requiring sixty caps with ten of each Original Six team to acquire the full offering, this 1965-66 Coca-Cola NHL cards PSA-graded near complete set (108/109) can now be obtained with a simple bid. The 6th current finest set on the PSA set registry and the 7th all-time finest, the set has a rating of 8.431 and GPA with top population bonuses of 8.480. With only two cards graded lower than EX 5, the breakdown for total grading is 16 cards GEM MT 10, 35 cards MINT 9, 3 cards NM-MT+ 8.5, 32 cards NM-MT 8, 1 card NM+ 7.5, 7 cards plus the NHL album card (8 total) NM 7, 4 cards EX-MT 6, 7 cards EX 5, 1 card VG-EX+ 4.5, and 1 card VG-EX 4. Missing just Wayne Hillman for completion, the set has 107 of the 108 cards for a complete set, plus the NHL album card for 108 cards total.
The PSA population report highest graded cards in the set include HOFers Phil Esposito (rookie card, glue residue to holder), Alex Delvecchio, Gordie Howe, Jean Beliveau, Henri Richard, Tim Horton and Dave Keon, along with Ken Wharram, Doug Barkley, Billy Harris, Paul Henderson (rookie card), Bruce MacGregor, Ron Murphy, Floyd Smith, Claude Larose and Claude Provost all GEM MT 10, Frank Mahovlich, Ron Ellis and Han Bassen all MINT 9 and Dave Dryden NM-MT 8. Other standouts include Yvan Cournoyer (rookie card) and Bobby Hull both graded MINT 9, Ken Hodge (rookie card) graded NM-MT+ 8.5, Terry Sawchuk, Jean Ratelle, Rod Gilbert, Dennis Hull (rookie card) and Bernie Parent (pre-dates 1968-69 O-Pee-Chee rookie by three years) are all graded NM-MT 8, Gump Worsley graded NM 7, Johnny Bower, Ed Giacomin (rookie card), and Gerry Cheevers (rookie card) graded EX-MT 6, and Glenn Hall graded VG-EX 4. Additionally, Arnie Brown, Bob Nevin, Phil Goyette, Don Awrey, Charlie Hodge, Andy Bathgate and Gary Bergman all have scratches and/or marks to the PSA holders, with the Reg Fleming having a crack to the upper right of the holder.
