Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
Vintage hockey card enthusiasts and lovers of uncut sheets may very well be oohing and aahing at the sight of this rarely-seen specimen. An uncut ensemble of the hockey “bucks” that were inserted one-a-pack with Topps cards in 1962-63 stars those of HOFers Stan Mikita and Johnny Bucyk in the first row, Leo Boivin, Bobby Hull, Andy Bathgate, Glenn Hall and Gump Worsley in the middle and Pierre Pilote and Harry Howell in the third column. Other notables include Vasko, Hay, McKenney, Oliver and Green. The bucks curiously resemble what the Canadian dollar looked like some fifty years ago and remarkably, the sheet has survived in crease-free, tear-free, difficult-to-ask-for-nicer condition, measuring approximately 14-1/4” by 15-1/2”. Even out of the pack, bucks had a fold line down the middle – these of course do not. We’re sure the hobby is anxious to see how many bucks these bucks are now worth!
