Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
A member of the National Hockey League's "Original Six" and one of the most collected teams in hockey, the New York Rangers, also known simply as "The Blueshirts", have called the bright lights of New York City home since their founding in 1926 and have won a total of four (4) Stanley Cup's over that time with the most recent coming in 1994. Featuring some of the best players to ever wear a Rangers jersey, offered here is this trio of New York rookie cards that includes examples of Jean Ratelle (1961-62 Topps), Brad Park (1970-71 Topps) and Eddie Giacomin (1965-66 Topps) as well as a non-rookie example of Rod Gilbert (1962-63 Topps). All signed with a mix of blue marker or ballpoint pen ink signatures over their fronts (the cards of Ratelle, Park and Giacomin all include inscriptions in matching ink also) that display without issue, all four (4) autographs have been deemed to be "authentic" by Beckett, who have also given grades of "10" to the all but the Gilbert specimen, which has not been graded. Of note, none of the four (4) cards themselves have been graded, just the three (3) mentioned signatures. ll housed in Beckett holders that remain in overall excellent condition, the cards themselves show flaws such as corner and edge wear, centering issues, paper loss and toning in some cases. Additionally, also included with the lot is a 1970-71 Rangers yearbook that has been signed by both Brad Park and Eddie Giacomin in blue marker ink alongside their images over the cover. With both autographs displaying well and without issue, the piece itself shows to be expected handling wear and some toning from age. Having had a Beckett hologram affixed inside the front cover, a matching COA will accompany the piece also.
