Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Jean Béliveau stands as one of the most iconic and influential figures in NHL history, defining an
era of dominance for the Montreal Canadiens. Béliveau’s graceful playing style made him a
generational talent, combining size, strength, and finesse in a way that few players ever
matched. After excelling with the Quebec Aces, Béliveau joined the Canadiens full-time in the
1953-54 season, launching a career that would see him win an astounding 10 Stanley Cup
championships as a player (the second-most in NHL history), and an additional seven as an
executive with the Canadiens. Béliveau’s leadership and consistency were unparalleled. He
captained the Canadiens for a decade (1961–1971), setting the standard for class and
composure on and off the ice. His offensive brilliance included 507 career goals and 1,219
points over 1,125 regular-season games. Béliveau also thrived under playoff pressure, leading
the league in postseason scoring three times and winning the inaugural Conn Smythe Trophy in
1965 as playoff MVP. His influence extended beyond statistics—Béliveau’s presence embodied
the Canadiens’ tradition of excellence, and he remains one of the most respected figures in
hockey history. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972, Béliveau’s legacy endures as a
symbol of grace, dominance, and integrity.
This Jean Béliveau rookie card, graded PSA NM 7, is one of just 60 in this grade, with only 43 receiving higher grades out of 747 submissions to PSA over the years. The PSA holder shows fine scratches/scuffing and remains in good condition overall.
