Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
A veteran of twenty-four (24) seasons in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres, Tim Horton, the namesake of Canada's favourite coffee and donut shop, would play twenty (20) years in the NHL wearing the blue and white of the Maple Leafs and patrolling their blue line in a way that struck fear into his opponents. A four (4) time Stanley Cup champion who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977 and named one of the 100 greatest players in NHL history in 2017, offered here is this copy of Horton's sophomore year card from Parkhurst's 1953-54 release. Card #13 in the set of 100, this particular copy, sporting the same image over the front as his rookie card from the season before just in a higher quality, the card has been inspected and slabbed with a mark of GOOD 2 for its effort. With the image over the front off center from right-to-left but retaining good colours, the corners and edges remain quite sharp and smooth while toning has set in, heavier over the left side on the front and reverse, which also shows staining. Housed for preservation and display in a PSA holder that shows scratches over both sides and tape on the reverse.
