Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
A member of the Brooklyn Dodgers organization for almost 20 years, Jake Pitler first pitched in the bigs for Pittsburgh in 1917, later coaching the Bums throughout the late-1940s to late-1950s. From the landmark 1952 Topps release, recognized as the most important set of the modern, post-war era, we have Pitler’s #395 high-number card, encapsulated and graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. Much more difficult to locate than the low-number cards issued in the first five series, the high-number cards from the final series (#311 to #407) are always on the watchlist of collectors, especially presentable, mid-to-high grade examples. Displaying nicely with good centering, there does appear to be a few small surface wrinkles over the upper left reverse corner.
