Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024

One of the game's tremendously important all-time players, with his status as the first black player to break the MLB's colour barrier, Jackie Robinson remains one of the most beloved figures to ever swing a bat. First winning the inaugural Rookie of the Year Award in 1947, Robinson would go on to earn 6 all-star berths, an MVP award and an NL batting championship while leading the Brooklyn Dodgers to the club's only World Series championship, in 1955. Hailing from the release that is regarded as the most important baseball card set of all-time, which included the rookie card of Mickey Mantle, offered here is this copy of Jackie's famed 1952 Topps card. Card #312 in the set, directly after the aforementioned Mantle, and picturing the trailblazer posing with a bat over his shoulder on the front, this particular copy has recently been returned from grading at PSA, where it was deemed to be worthy of an FR 1.5 mark. Off-center from left-to-right on the front with some light rounding to all four (4) corners, the card displays with some toning but stunning colours along with some light surface wear/staining and a pair of creases. With the write up on the reverse speaking of Jackie being a multi-sport athlete at UCLA, don't miss out on this all-important offering.
The PSA holder remains in excellent condition with a couple small and light scratches observed over both sides that are worth noting for accuracy.
