Topping the 50-goal plateau an incredible nine times throughout his legendary, unmatched career, Wayne Gretzky first reached the magical milestone during his rookie season in 1979-80, scoring 51 while adding 86 assists for a ridiculous 137 points. This is the actual puck the icon used to secure his 50th goal of the 1979-80 NHL season, which also served as his 50th career goal! Featuring an Oilers logo, the important puck has been mounted to a finished 7” x 9” wooden base with beveled edges, with a plaque beneath listing the particulars including “Wayne Gretzky – 50th goal of the season”, “April 2, 1980 in Edmonton, Alta” and “Oilers vs Minnesota North Stars”. The puck and base both exhibit light wear, with the puck affixed by tape and currently attached but loose. This is one of the most historic game pucks in the entire hobby, and it has resided in our consignor’s collection for the past 15 years. An LOA from the Edmonton Oilers will accompany.
