Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Calling all dealers! This lot is ideal for the hockey entrepreneur looking for great stock, or for that collector who loves earlier quality equipment highlighted by a few rarely-seen brands. Ranging from the 1940s to 1970s and dominated by shin pad pairs, the collection includes a trio of helmets including a rare all leather harness example, 8 pairs of vintage shins pads including early leather and felt models and a pair of vintage solid red 1960s/70s hockey gloves produced in Pakistan. First, the leather harness hails from the circa 1940s and is in solid black leather with no maker visible, with the strapping intact and light wear, with “NPF 11” handwritten. The second helmet is a harness type model produced by Mastercraft in the 1950s/60s with plastic shells, with intact strapping and moderate wear, with a former owners name handwritten. The final helmet was produced by Jofa in the 1980s, with #20 decals. The gloves have “SSW”s with crossed hockey sticks, with a stamp stating “Made in Pakistan”, with moderate wear to the pair. The shin pads include an early leather and felt pair with no maker from the 1920s/30s with moderate use, a second leather and felt pair with no maker from the 1940s with plastic shells showing moderate use, a pair of D&R models for a youth from the 1960s with light use, a small pair of felt pads with red plastic covers and shells – possibly produced for baseball, with moderate use, a rarely-seen pair of shin pads from Hiawatha, with leather, felt and red shells, and three different Cooper Weeks pairs from the 1950s/60s including SE11, DG1 and DG2 models, with light to moderate wear from use to each.
