Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016

In his seven full seasons with the Maple Leafs, Rick Vaive never scored fewer than 32 goals and his career total of 299 in a Toronto uniform is surpassed only by Sittler, Keon and Ellis. Named team captain in 1981, Rick Vaive donned this CCM white knit home jersey during the mid-1980s. Jersey shows nice game use with a couple of one-inch team repairs on the front where a few light burns and stick marks can be spotted, along with two small stains. Light snags, pulls and burns are on the shortened sleeves and a one-inch repair is higher up on the right one. We note the outline of a former placement of an earlier "C" on the shirt. An 8x10 signed photo of Vaive is included. This wonderful knit was offered originally back in 2005 when we auctioned the Rick Vaive Collection.
Tag in the neck is no longer present while a CCM patch is embroidered into the rear hem with the period-correct asterix up in the top right corner. The Leafs crest, the captain's "C", the numbers and "Vaive" across the nameplate are in tackle twill and sewn-on.
