Bestowed upon the superstar during his sophomore NHL campaign, we have a “Three Star Award” trophy that was presented to Ray Bourque as the third star by WITS, the Bruins Radio Network, in 1980-81. At approx 13” in height and featuring a generic mounted player serving as finial over an approx 8” wide domed silver bowl, the bowl is mounted to a finished black wooden base, with the wider bottom tier approx 5 ½” x 5 ½”. A plaque with the particulars engraved has been affixed to the front of the base, including “WITS - Bruins”, “#3 Star” and “Ray Bourque – 1980-81”. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Ray Bourque will accompany this attractive award. A portion of the sales from the Ray Bourque personal collection will benefit the Bourque Family Foundation.
The trophy displays nicely, with tarnishing over the silver bowl, with no issues for the mounted player. There is also some light wear to the wooden base including a few minor chips. WITS was the Bruins radio broadcaster from 1978 to 1982.
ADDENDUM: The blade of the stick for the mounted player has broken off.
