The Habs' fourth straight Stanley Cup of the late-1970s is represented by this superb silver-plated miniature presented by the NHL to Pierre Larouche. The Habs swept Toronto, edged Boston in seven unforgettable games, then took out the Rangers in five in the finals. Conn Smythe winner Bob Gainey was hoisted on his teammates' shoulders and the Canadiens raised the Cup on home ice for the first time since 1968. Ken Dryden, Yvan Cournoyer and Jacques Lemaire all called it a career and coach Scotty Bowman moved on from an incredible lineup featuring fellow HOFers Lafleur, Shutt, Robinson, Savard, Lapointe and Langway. The trophy stands a notch under 13" tall. With some light, cleanable tarnish and small scratches to mention,it remains a magnificent display piece. Pierre has signed in black marker across the green felt on the bottom of the black wood base. Included is a frame dedicated to Larouche for the 1979 Cup win and signed by Montreal mayor Jean Drapeau. Please see our website description for more information about this Stanley Cup trophy comes with Pierre Larouche's signed LOA. A total of 13 members of the Hockey Hall of Fame are listed amid the names of the “Club de Hockey Canadien 1978-79” engraved in three columns on the barrel of this trophy, beginning with the team’s executives, including Jean Beliveau and Sam Pollock, who remained a director of the team after stepping down as general manager following the 1977-78 season. Larouche was part of a formidable supporting cast that included the likes of Tremblay, Houle, Jarvis, Napier, Mondou, Larocque and Engblom.
Drapeau signed in black marker in the bottom right corner of a print of an 1878 scene of Montreal city hall displayed in a 13 3/4" x 15 3/4" silver-colored frame which was presented to Larouche on May 21, 1979 in commemoration of the Canadiens’ 22nd Stanley Cup win.
