Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
An absolute prize for antique stick collectors and extremely rare, we have a seldom-seen built-up goal stick, most likely originating from circa 1905-10, with remnants remaining of it’s original paper label. At 45” in length and with a few small sections of the label remaining over just one side of the shaft, “London Ont” is visible, with the added “built-up” section affixed with seven nails along with tape that was original to production. “Goal” appears inverted, stenciled over the blade near the taped section, with the stick just exhibiting honest wear from use, with a tape strand that is just slightly loosening over the upper section. We should also note that what appears to be a pair of illegible pencil signatures are present on the blade. The precursor to the modern paddle goal stick, this example will please any discerning collector of vintage lumber.
